Sun 24 Oct, 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM
+ 2 more
No art skills required. Join Xavier a teacher from ComXNaut studio, in a short & sweet lesson on simple architectural perspectives. Then, sketch your very own version of Singapore’s iconic shophouses, some of which date back to the turn of the 19th century. The shophouse was so called, because in the past, the ground floor typically was a shop, while the upper level served as living quarters. Today, shophouses have been preserved national heritage sites, and many have been converted to stylish homes and other commercial uses.
Before we start our sketching, we will take a short walk along Kim Yam and Tong Watt Rd, where we can observe some beautiful residential shophouses and learn about the history of the area.
We will have a quick walk along Kim Yam and Tong Watt Rd, and see the beautiful shophouses there, and have a quick discussion about the history of the area.
Then, we will proceed to Crane, a private club housed in the former Nan Chiau Girls School, for the art class.
While sketching, we will bring out local teatime treats and freshly-baked pastries from the cafe next door.
