This event is part of Crane's Archifest21 Collaboration: Singapore Architecture in Art & Comics.
Singapore Stories Through Comics & Photographs
Aligned to this year's Archifest theme of “Design Evidence” to provoke fresh and diverse perspectives on architecture, design, culture and the city, this online panel will discuss how Singapore stories are told through comics and photography. The two mediums have their own visual language and methods and also different creators' intent. But both capture people and their spaces, telling the stories of Singapore, architecture and place.
The panel is moderated by Lim Cheng Tju. The panelists are:
Ye Zhen, a self-published comic artist of comic book series Singapore Hip-Hop Horror Comics (12 vols, since 2006)
Mindy Tan, local documentary photographer
Darren Soh, veteran local architecture photographer
Raymond Quek, professor with research on graphic narrative and architecture and Singapore's architectural history.
The panel is accompanied by a digital exhibition of the artists' work at Crane.
This panel takes place ONLINE and is free to enter. If you would like to visit the exhibition, please purchase a day pass at $5 which gives you access to all Archifest exhibitions, pop-up home decor stores, and our in-person panel for the day. Look for registration at wearecrane.com/happenings!
